Android App Development

Your app. Your brand. Your developer account.

A website-powered app or a small native Android experience. Clear scope, editable source, and a handoff that puts you in control.

Built by CSI. Source project delivered.

You control the next step.

Choose an app that follows your existing website or a native Android experience built around your idea. Open the source project in Android Studio, test it and publish from your own developer account.

Website-powered. Or native by design.

WebView Android app

$499 starting / one-time

A scoped Android experience around one authorized, working, mobile-friendly HTTPS website or agreed domains.

  • App name, basic icon and loading treatment from supplied branding
  • Reviewed site navigation and agreed start page
  • Android back navigation and useful offline/loading/error states
  • Safe external links and conservative WebView permissions
  • Android Studio source project, test build and documented handoff

Separate: website builds/redesigns, custom logos, replacement login/checkout, push notifications, biometrics, camera/location, extensive uploads/downloads, deep linking, advanced offline mode, new APIs, accounts and payments. No Play submission or testers included.

We review ownership permission, usability, functionality and Play suitability. Thin or duplicative apps may need meaningful additional functionality or be declined for Play-targeted work.

Request a WebView App Quote
Native Android app

$1,499 starting / one-time

A small, scoped native MVP. The starting scope is a baseline for a written quote, not unlimited app development.

  • Up to 3 straightforward screens and one simple navigation flow
  • Basic identity and supplied branding
  • Straightforward local data entry/display and simple interactions
  • Approved feature list and screen map before development
  • Device-appropriate layouts, test build, source and handoff

Separate: accounts/authentication, databases/backends, sync, payments/subscriptions, chat, maps/location tracking, push notifications, APIs, uploads, streaming, complex animation and multiple roles.

A complete production business app commonly needs a custom quote above $1,499. We confirm whether your idea fits this starter scope before accepting the work.

Request a Native App Quote

No mandatory monthly CSI hosting. Website hosting and backend services are separate purchases. Google fees and publishing responsibilities are separate.

Know your app's flow? Great.

Bring screens, sketches, examples or written steps. No flow yet? We can review your website navigation and identify what belongs in an app. We agree on the screen plan and price before development.

Following a website flow does not automatically reproduce its features in native code or make it eligible for Google Play.

From idea to handoff

Five steps. Clear responsibilities.

  1. Discovery

Agree on the objective, app type, branding, website, user flow and device needs.

  2. Scope & quote

Approve features, screens, exclusions, signing arrangements and customer publishing duties.

  3. Build

Use a supported Android Studio/Gradle toolchain, appropriate SDK target and sensible security settings.

  4. Quality checks

Build, test and report actual results. Fix in-scope issues under the agreement.

  5. Deliver

Provide source, test APK, agreed release files, README and customer-controlled publishing guidance.

Know the files

What app delivery includes.

Android Studio project ZIP

Editable agreed source, Gradle settings/app files and wrapper, manifest, resources, legitimate assets, dependency/license notices and build README. No caches, local.properties, private data, credentials or keystores.

Debug-signed testing APK

An installable development/testing build. This is not a Google Play release build.

Optional unsigned release APK

Only if requested and technically produced. A development artifact, not directly installable until signed.

Release-signed APK

Delivered when the authorized signing workflow is available. It can be installed/distributed under applicable rules, but does not replace the AAB needed for a new Play app.

Release-signed AAB

For Play uploads under an approved customer-controlled upload-key workflow. New Play apps generally require Android App Bundle and Play App Signing.

Handoff guide & test summary

Tools/SDK versions, import/build steps, application ID, versioning, signing instructions without secrets, agreed features, checks, limitations and customer-led publishing steps.

If a safe release-signing workflow is unavailable, delivery is source plus test APK and local signing instructions. Missing signed files are disclosed before purchase, never represented as delivered.

Your keys.
Your account. Your control.

You control the signing setup, keystore, alias and upload key. Prefer generating and using keys on your own machine. An existing app requires verified ownership and the correct identifier and signing workflow.

Never send keystores, key passwords or Play logins through this form or plain email. Any authorized CSI handling must use an agreed secure, limited-access, temporary process; secrets never enter Git or the source ZIP. Losing signing access can complicate future updates. Google's app-signing key and your upload key may differ.

Source/artwork ownership and third-party licenses are defined in your signed agreement.

Built and tested in Android Studio before delivery.

Each app receives documented project import/Gradle sync, build and relevant lint checks, plus defined tests and device/emulator flows where feasible. We check launch, navigation/back, accessibility, supported rotation and network/error behavior. WebView checks cover the approved HTTPS site, redirects, included login, external links and history without bypassing SSL validation.

The report records commands, tool versions, device/API levels, results, limitations and open items. Release builds/bundles depend on configured signing. In-scope failures are fixed or an exception is explicitly agreed.

Google Play review and approval are separate from Android Studio testing and are controlled by Google.

Customer-led publishing

Want help publishing your app?

$62 / one-hour Google Play walk-through

We guide you step by step while you use your own developer account. You handle the listing, verification, testing, submission, compliance answers and final publication.

Your publishing checklist

  • Create and own your Play developer account
  • Pay Google its own registration fee: currently US$25 one-time
  • Provide eligible testers if your account requires them
  • Publish and maintain your listing and account standing
  • Control your signing keys and app ownership
Request Play Store Guidance

Educational checklist, not a required legal consent. A request is not a paid reservation.

What the hour covers

  1. Check account/app readiness, AAB, signing, package ID and name.
  2. Walk through the app and account details in Play Console.
  3. Explain listing content, screenshots, privacy/Data safety declarations and test tracks.
  4. Explain your AAB upload and Console errors.
  5. Provide official links and a take-home checklist.

Not included: tester recruitment/coordination, identity verification, writing a privacy policy, full store artwork, repeated submissions or out-of-scope code fixes. Another hour is $62 only by agreement.

Google's requirements and decisions

The US$25 developer registration fee is paid to Google, not CSI. You complete account, identity and device/organization verification as applicable.

For qualifying new personal accounts created after November 13, 2023, Google's closed-testing requirements currently include at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 continuous days, followed by an application for production access. CSI does not provide, recruit, coordinate or guarantee testers. Rules can change; check Google.

You approve listing text, screenshots, category, privacy policy and Data safety answers, upload the AAB, and maintain the app after launch unless separately contracted. Google decides eligibility and review timing. There is no acceptance, ranking or publication-date guarantee. Testing and review may take work beyond one guidance hour.

Official guidance: Android app signing and App Bundle and Play App Signing. Requirements reviewed October 17, 2026.

What is the difference between WebView and native Android?

WebView uses an authorized, compatible website as the main app experience, from $499. Native Android is a separately built app, from $1,499 for a small agreed starter scope.

Can an app follow my existing website flow?

Yes, after reviewing the website and agreeing on the screen/navigation plan. Website features do not automatically become native features, and some sites are unsuitable for a simple WebView app. We may recommend a different scope or decline a Play-targeted build.

What app files will I receive?

The agreed Android Studio source project ZIP, an installable debug-signed testing APK, build notes and a test summary. Signed release APK/AAB files depend on an approved customer-controlled signing workflow. Licensed third-party dependencies retain their own terms.

Why is the test APK signed?

Android requires a signed APK for installation. A debug-signed APK is for testing, not Play release. An optional unsigned release APK is a development artifact that cannot be installed until signed.

Who owns my signing keys and Play Console account?

You control your signing setup, source handoff and developer account under the agreement. Never send keys, passwords or Play logins through the inquiry form or plain email.

Will CSI publish my app or find testers?

No. You operate your Play Console account, provide any eligible testers and submit the app. CSI offers a $62 one-hour guided walk-through; additional help requires agreement.

What does Google charge and what is the testing rule?

Google currently charges a US$25 one-time developer registration fee, paid to Google. Qualifying personal accounts created after November 13, 2023 need at least 12 opted-in testers for 14 continuous days before applying for production access. Check the official Google links on our Android page for current requirements.

Does Android Studio testing guarantee Play approval?

No. Build and device testing are separate from Google Play review. Google controls eligibility, approval and timing. No acceptance or publication-date guarantee is included.
